June 30, 2012 – Pre-planning
Our 4th annual Regency picnic is coming up on Sept. 8th, and it’s time to start preparing. This afternoon, after Katie’s parade, we hit the store. We visited our local Big Box store a few weeks ago, and Annie picked out the fabric that she wanted for her dress this year. At $2.50/yd, it was more than a bargain. I picked up about 6 yds of the yellow and blue printed material, and a half yard of the a matching blue solid. The style that Annie wants this year is a wrap dress. After going over images of different designs, she said that she wants me to make it just like mine from last year. I will need to pick up a blue braided trim, and pull out some bleached muslin for the bodice lining. But, before I get started on her dress, I’ll be making her a new chemise, as her old one doesn’t fit anymore. For her new chemise, it’s time to bump her up to the smallest size in the Sense & Sensibility pattern. I can’t wait to get started on this.
September 9, 2012 – After the fact update

As always, I fell behind in working on my projects. I had decided to help out my dear friend, Elma, and made the dress for her little darlings, so she could concentrate on making her dress. Well, my slacker habits kicked in and put me behind the 8 ball, as usual. I did get Annie’s new chemise done early on, so that was not a concern. I didn’t get to drafting and fitting a pattern for her until September 1st. Nothing like waiting till almost the last minute, huh? lol. Good thing I work great under pressure, and here is more proof. I drafted, fit and cut out everything I needed for her dress late on Saturday the 1st. Then, I put the whole thing together on Sunday the 2nd. That left Monday the 3rd for my dress. lol. I did a final full fitting on Thursday the 6th for the closure placements. I am very pleased with how her dress turned out. It was a perfect fit, and was exactly what she wanted.
