September 11, 2012 – Overview of project

Sorry. The flash washed out the colors a bit.

This year, Miss Elma wanted to make a drop front Regency dress. I thought I would help out and offer to make the dresses for her girls, Maria and Nicole. Elma took the girls shopping to pick out their fabric, and brought me what they decided on, along with the matching buttons. Maria chose the blue, along with the half sleeve option. While Nicole picked the sunshine yellow with a puff sleeve option.

After making mock ups, and writing all my fitting notes on them, I was able to start. And, admittedly, I slacked on my sewing responsibilities a bit, but I know I wasn’t the only one. lol. We all kinda drug our feet this year on our picnic sewing. I think it was the horrid heat we had this summer. But, I did find my sewing mojo, hiding in the sewing room, in the cool air near the the tv. lol. Once I got started, I was done in no time at all. I did make their dresses with two 1″ tucks near the bottom of the skirts. The reason for the tucks is simple, and an old reason. As the girls have growth spurts, all Elma needs to do is let a tuck at a time to add 2″ in length. So, without further ado, here is little Miss Maria in the lovely dress:

And, here is little Miss Nicole, in her sunshine yellow dress:
