It has been forever since I have gotten any “girl time” with the ladies. And, by “girl time”, I mean no nagging kids, no nagging husbands, just time for us to relax and talk. We missed our annual tea back in May, and have been busy enough that we just couldn’t line up our schedules. Well, everything aligned nicely last weekend, and Miss Elma and Miss PJ joined me for tea. It was so refreshing. I made cranberry-orange cream scone, along with some mini chocolate coffee cakes. Yum!
After drinking a pot of Oriental White Tea, we decided that we needed to take to the road to do a tiny bit of retail therapy, and visit the local historical park:
I love visiting this farm. The original farm house still stands (you see the back side of the house in the photo above), and it’s surrounded on one side and the back by gardens. They have the historic farm garden on the side, and behind the house is the different types of gardens: Heirloom, Dye, Tea, Fragrant, and several others I can’t think of right this moment. I usually try to visit on my birthday, but this year I had too many errands to run, and missed stopping by. This will also be the park that we will be holding our costume picnics in. Besides the house and gardens, there is also a large field that has a lovely gazebo, and little creek that we played in while we where there:
Besides the fun we had last weekend, I also received my new Jordana Paige bag that I ordered during her Red, White & Blue sale. I ordered the Quinn in cobalt:
The cobalt bags she had left for the sale were all imperfect bags, so there were already discounted, plus you got the sale discount, which made it extremely affordable. And, I will say that if this is an imperfect bag, I can’t find what’s wrong with it. I absolutely love this bag, and will be saving up to get it the cranberry color. But, back to everything else. When I did get my bag, I immediately switched to it. And, since it’s a knittng bag/purse, I shifted sock was working on before I lost my mojo, and good thing, too. I did end up having to take a friend to the emergency room during the week, and it kept my hands busy while we were there:
In other things, I haven’t been posting as often as I would like, as my trusty laptop took a nose dive several months ago. I held out to try to fixing it, as the fan died on it, but the replacement part just didn’t do the trick. So, I finally bit the bullet the other day and ordered something new. I wanted something smaller, lighter, and more suited to what I actually use a computer for now. I ended up with a Microsoft Surface 3 with keyboard and pen. It arrived today, and so far, so good: The photo is a little on the dark side, but you can see Miss Sophie laying next to it on the table. Such a silly kitty. And, speaking of silly kitties, Miss Onyx has taken to laying in my mail basket on the wine case:
This was really a compromise. She was knocking the basket off and laying on the wine case, but after shooting her with the water gun a few times, we have come to the agreement that she can sleep in the basket. lol. Also, this week, I decided that we needed some quality family time. I had Annie invite her best friend over for the weekend, and we went to the drive-in movies last night. We had a blast. We saw Antman and Avengers: Age of Ultron:
It had been years since the last time I had been to the drive-in. Annie was under two, and a friend and I took all of the kids to see one of the Harry Potter movies. We were all excited to go. I popped up some popcorn, enough for two gallon baggies full, bought some snacks and soda, loaded up the little cooler full of ice, tossed a couple of chairs and a blanket into the back of my little hatch back car, and off we went. I’ll be keeping an eye open to see what else they’ll be playing this summer, just to see if we want to go again, especially since I forgot just how much fun it can be. Since we didn’t get home until around 2:30 am, the girls crashed on the floor of the living room, and this is what I awoke to this morning:
I can tell that when I finally let the cats into my room, I will have to fight for my pillow. Since I now have a way to post from home, I should be posting more often. Especially since I plan on finally attaching the sewing room next weekend. I’ll be sure to post the before and after photos. 😉 So, until next time… Happy Sewing!
