Wow! It’s been really hot in the Central Ohio area lately. We have been in the mid to upper 80’s for most of the week. What happened to spring? lol. Besides it being hot, it’s been a busy week, so it’s taken me a while to get around to my shoe update. My shoes did arrive last Friday, as promised by Amazon. Have a peek:
I will say that the few reviews that were on the page were correct. They are a bit stiff, and do seem to run small. I normally wear a typical size 8US, and I do have a wide foot. So, because of the reviews I ordered a size 9US. Here is what they look like out of the box:
I do like the look of them, and they will work well for costuming purposes. I will say that I wasn’t too pleased with the bits where the glue is showing:
Again, they aren’t as good as the Astorias from American Duchess, but they will do until I can save up. Along with the shoes, I ordered a few more patterns. I found a copy of Folkwear #224 – Beautiful Dreamer (which is OOP) on Ebay for a reasonable price:
This garment reminds me of the nighties I used to wear as a little girl. Miss Elma and I are contemplating on finding some fabric with vintage prints on it and making a couple for ourselves. lol. I also ordered Folkwear #203 – Edwardian Underthings:
This is a pattern that I have been wanting to order for some time, but haven’t had a reason to until now. With the addition of this pattern to my ever growing collection, I am becoming more and more excited to start sewing again. I also have ordered a PDF reproduction of a 1912 corset pattern from Etsy. You can find it here. It was the style of corset I was looking for, so I took the leap and bought it. I will be scaling it up, and modifying it to fit my ample form. lol. Wish me luck. 😉 Other than that, I do have one more pattern that I ordered, and am just waiting for it to arrive. Hopefully, it’ll be here soon.
In other news, it’ll be a busy weekend. Tomorrow is the next vet appointment for the kitties, as it’s time for their next round of shots. Here is a pic of little Miss Onnie from last weekend:
In case you can’t tell from the look on her furry little face, she isn’t too keen on being held, especially when it’s play time. lol. She is shaping up to be act just like another fluffy black cat I used to have. We have been working with her to make her more lovable. As I tell her all the time, I’m going to love her and she’s going to like it! lol.
As for the rest of the weekend, Annie and I will be attending the reveal for a ghost hunt we were on early last month. Can’t wait to see what all was picked up by the cameras. And, then on Sunday I’ll be spending time with my mommy! She can’t make up her mind if she wants to go to brunch, or hit the casino. Either way, I know we’ll enjoy ourselves.
Until next time – Happy Sewing!
